So another installment of something precious from the depths of my hope chest. And the last of Story Telling Sunday... really? I SO hope not! I've enjoyed this meme so much and I really hope Sian has something wonderful up her sleeve for 2014. Because I need the nudge. And she is such a wonderful and gracious host!
My last Precious is this lovely stack of cards and letters from my husband and daughters over the years. They all think I'm not particularly sentimental. I doubt they even know that I've kept these. Some of the more recent cards I've received have ended up in my "Junque Journal" (like a smash album) or on scrapbook layouts. But I don't really get cards much any more. Card giving seems to be a dying art in this family. So I treasure these ones that I have - both home made and store bought, for Christmas, Mother's Day, My birthday, or just to say "I love you" ... for the memories, for the tangible proof that at some points in their lives they all honored card giving occasions with sentiments that meant so much to me. And still do. And always will.

I love getting cards, too. And you're so right ... it seems to be a dying art not just in your family but everywhere. I guess it's just too easy to send an e-mail or e-card nowadays!
Hope you have a great week.

I love getting 'real' cards as well....an email version is just not the same!!
You're right, there is nothing quite like a proper card to look back on. I hope cards never take over completely!
What a lovely collection you have there.
How perfectly appropriate for the December Storytelling Sunday! I love it, because I completely agree. I have a big boxful of cards from family and another one from my dear blog friends all over the world - you good self included - and I would never part with them. I grabbed an hour today to make a start on some Christmas cards, so save a space :)
With so many grateful thanks for your wonderful contributions which have been enjoyed by all of us over the past three years x
Just right to round off the year Cheri. I had picked a shoebox of cards/letters, from friends and family over the years, to be my precious this month and then I changed my mind.
What a wonderful treasure to have such a lovely stack of cards - how fun it would be to sit & read through them from time to time!
I so well understand that you are keeping these letters and cards - I do that, too. They are a treasure. Mine are in two boxes, and should we ever have to evacuate quickly (after all, we're living in earthquake country) these are some of the things I would grab first.
Great choice! I have a rather huge plastic box with all the cards and letters I've received from my husband and children. It's been a LONG time since I looked through them, though I always add the new ones to the box!
Yes, I so get this. I have a tupperware box full of cards & letters that I treasure.
I'm the same and keep all my cards, they are getting less and less now x
Do you remember what was in that "hope chest" when you received it as a wedding gift? I'm glad to see it now stores things that are precious to you.
I have a huge box of all the letters Paul and I wrote to each other during the three years we were apart (when I was in law school). And my sister turned my parents' courtship letters into a spiral bound book for all of us a few years ago. Precious indeed!

in this day and age of electronic mail, your stack or cards truly is precious. I don't know if you've heard, but here in the states, they are going to stop teaching cursive in school. I fear that any form of personal correspondence is soon to die. That makes me cherish the cards I get all the more. I can't remember the last time I actually received a letter from anyone.
What a lovely stack of memories - definitely precious :)
What a fabulous precious Cheri.
