It's Not Supposed to be like THIS....
It is Autumn here in the sleepy little town of Perkasie. We have a few bare trees and a few trees starting to turn, but we still have a LOT of green. So we aren't supposed to get SIX INCHES of snow!
It all starts innocently enough. A few flurries:
and the ground is just starting to show white. Take note of that nice tall tree in the background. See all those green leaves still left? See the nice space between the lower branches and the ground???
Well, when the snow starts settling on the leaves, especially the very heavy wet snow we were getting, the branches start to bend under the weight of it all...
And ultimately the branches touch the ground... and some break off... :(
We lost a large branch off this tree and another in the back yard. Almost every house in this area lost branches or entire trees. And parts of the area are still without power, even though the storm was on Saturday. Schools were closed today.
If this is any indication of what is to come.... I am so NOT READY for winter!!! Please Mother Nature, can we have Autumn first????

OMG Cheri....rather you than me [sorry!!!].....I just hope this is not an omen of things to come for us all.
On no . . . it shouldn't be that way.
Great "punchy color" photos - I can't believe all that fall color is buried under six feet of snow now.
Oh Cheri we never get snow like that or if we do it not very often I am with Jacky glad it is you and not me sorry again lol x
No, it's not supposed to be like that at all! We somehow escaped it, and I must say I'm grateful!
Oh no Cheri, I can't imagine snow that heavy in October, what a shame so many trees got damaged. Beautiful photos though.
I saw the snow pictures on the news last night and I couldn't believe it! You have captured some pretty photos, but I bet it made for a cold night of Trick or Treating!
Woah. That's a LOT of cold stuff happening there! And your poor tree!
*gasp!* A white Halloween, or did the town postpone trick-or-treating?
My goodness what a lot of snow you have. Hope you are staying warm xx
oh my, this takes me back to last November when we had the beginning of the severest winter here since records began! Hopefully it has all melted now?
