So Here's The Thing...

Do you remember way back in October when I shared that I had an upcoming trip but it would have to be a blog post for after Christmas?  Ring any bells?  Well, I've tried to figure out a clever way to introduce this but nothing is coming to me.  So here goes...

First, let me just say that I dropped easter eggs about it here (in November, check out my gratitude page) and here (in December, again check out my gratitude page) and here (in January, check out the journaling on my December Reflections pages) and again here (where I nearly hit you all over the head with my news on my 2016 OLW Intentions page).  Only two people called me out on it. So what's the THING? LONDON!!

Our big Christmas gift this year was (is) tickets to see this:

Now in order to take advantage of these tickets - which Sarah spent four hours of her life in two separate online queues to procure (she had really good seats in the shopping cart but the "buy" button wouldn't work because the website was having some technical glitches. She had to jump into a second queue and start over. She's tenacious like that.) - it means the Andrews family will be traveling to LONDON in July!!!

So here's the deets.  Arriving London Heathrow at 6:20 a.m. on Monday July 25.  We've booked a rental apartment on Fitzroy St. in the Fitzrovia section of London.  Which means absolutely squat to me at this point, but Sarah says it is well situated.  She really wanted to be in Soho, but we simply couldn't afford the housing options there!

Our tickets for the Harry Potter play (any Potter fans get tickets for this?) are for Wednesday the 27th.  Of course all the typical touristy stuff (ANY RECOMMENDATIONS/TIPS WILL BE GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED) will be undertaken.  On Saturday we'll head to Edinburgh, Scotland and then back home early on Tuesday.  Whirlwind, yes. But we stretched our budget as it was.

Now I certainly can't haul my big butt 3500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean without at least trying to meet up with my U.K. blog friends, can I????  Save the date!!!  Friday, July 29, 2016.  Put it on your calendar.  Meet me in London - I'm open to suggestions for restaurants or other suitable meeting places. Yes, I'm just a little excited about the prospect. Can I count on seeing YOU there???

Oh, wow! What an exciting trip to look forward to. I would love to meet you Cheri. My two will have broken up for their Summer hols by then so I don't see why I couldn't make it.

I'm soooooo jealous!!! I adore London---or the entire UK for that matter. I have only been twice, but plan to get back soon. You are going to have the best time. It's a great city for just walking around. I'd hook up with Missus Wookie if I were you---she was better than any tour guide I had!!

How exciting! It's been over 40 years since I've been to London, and the prospect of meeting up with our blogging friends there fills me with envy!

How exciting! That's fantastic news! I can't wait to see who manages to meet up. And you never know: it's usually round about then that we take our holidays and travel. Our plans will depend on whether the kids are coming with us this year. We'll see! Again, how exciting..

What fun you will have. London is one of my most favorite places in the world. I fell in love with it when I was 13. Since then I've been there so many times, but I never get tired of it. It's hideously expensive, but oh! what a wonderful place. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

So thrilled for all of you. It should be an awesome trip for you, and I hope you do get to meet some of your friends there. If you're souvenir hunting and you get into a store that sells fabric in Scotland, a meter of a nice Harris Tweed that you can picture as a handbag would make the most awesome birthday/Christmas gift for your mother. Even half a meter. Just had to put that out there. This has got to be an epic trip for you, and I imagine even just making all the plans is fun and exciting. Can't wait to hear more as things progress.

What a great trip you've got planned. Fitzrovia is central - and walking distance to lots of neat places.

I've added you to my diary and am happy to answer questions :)

Oh how FUN!! Hopefully we'll be traveling somewhere then, too, as it's my birthday week . . . but probably not London this year. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I've been to London 3 times & there are still things I didn't get to do and want to someday. With limited time, it's simply a matter of choosing which to do on this trip! You'll be near the British Museum & it's wonderful - even if you just have a little time, stop by to see the beautiful atrium & the Rosetta Stone. It's also totally worth it to walk by Selfridges just to see the store window displays (the best I've seen anywhere). :)
