Crazy Hail Storm

We had a crazy hail storm last week. The skies got dark and within minutes it was raining, then hailing... like crazy.  In the 23 years we've lived in this home, we've never seen hail like this:

Literally bouncing off the ground when it hit.  And so loud. I went out to take photos and got hit with just one - more than enough to convince me I didn't want to be out walking or driving in this nonsense!

The Aftermath.  And off in the distance, the neighbors out checking their cars for damage. We keep ours in the garage!

Those hail stones in Jay's hand. Some were the size of giant gumballs!

Even the smallest ones were bigger than the normal pea-sized hail we get on rare occasions.

And within minutes, the whole thing was over.

The weather is playing strange tricks on us too. It was freezing yesterday and today it's actually warm enough for a t shirt

I agree with Jacky and Sian - Sunday was jumpers and jeans and fleeces today a summer top - what's going on?

Those hailstones are huge!! We have been told that we will be having a hosepipe ban in The Midlands unless we get significant rainfall over the next couple of weeks :(

I don't think I've ever seen hailstones that big!

Wow that's a lot of hail + big! Lucky on cars in garage!

That's crazy! The hail was so bad in the Dayton, Ohio, area recently that it was aggregating on my mom's roof, then sheeting off and hitting her window frames in baseball-sized clumps. She is going to need a new roof, and all of the windows along her sun porch were badly damaged! Meanwhile, my brother, about 15 min. away, got no hail whatsoever.

They look ferocious!
We lived in Sydney in the early naughties and there was an amazing hail storm there which is still spoken about as reference .... severe damage to buildings and cars - everything ok around your place?

I've seen hail that big only once or twice, but never gotten photos. Yours are great, but I gotta say, hail can be pretty scary sometimes.

Isn't weather crazy? I love all kinds of weather, just for the sheer power of it, but hail is scary stuff... can do a lot of damage. So can wind, I guess... but hail hurts on contact! Great shots!
