I started blogging October 2, 2008. My first post was inspired by a blog blitz challenge put out by Stacy Julian. I made the mini-album and posted a link to my new blog on Stacy's blog. That first post got ELEVEN comments over the course of the month - and funny thing is - only one of those people follows me today.... my mother!
Most of my posts in 2008 had between 0 (zilch, none, nada) and 2 comments. The comments were from my sister, my best friend, and a fellow blogger - all of whom rarely even visit my blog anymore!
My posts were all over the board in terms of content. I thought I didn't mind the lack of comments because I was really blogging for myself. Capturing thoughts, stories, sharing layouts and photos. And honestly, some of those early posts were really GOOD.
Just for fun, I'm reposting a layout that I first posted back in November of 2009 - random facts about me. So those of you new or relatively new to my blog can get to know me really quickly:
In November 2009, I participated in the first run of Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers.
My first post for BFS was/is spot on. Beyond a personal journal and a space to share my creativity, I had to admit that I blogged for the connection and the validation. And I acknowledged that I ADORE comments!
Most of my loyal followers came from that first class. I truly love the friendships I have made!
I'm hoping in this class to get back to making sure that my posts have meaningful content, that I'm continuing to be relevant to my loyal followers, and hopefully even make some new connections!
I ADORE comments (did I mention that?) and I always try to return visits to anyone who leaves a comment on my blog.
So now I'd like to get to know you all a little better! Please take a moment to answer this little poll about:
Why do YOU blog?????
You can check off as many answers as apply!
And feel free to leave me comments too. You know I just ADORE comments!

I've just done a very similar post,Cheri!!
I just voted, and you know I totally enjoy your blog. If I saw this layout earlier I'd forgotten it, and it's a wonderful one. I started my blog because my son-in-law thought I'd enjoy it. Over time, it's evolved much as yours has, but I must admit it was after Shimelle's first class that I first found a blogging community, and that has been one of the biggest blessings.
Don't think I've seen this post before, so it was good to learn a little more about you!
Your post here made me smile, Cheri. :o) In the beginning I had just a few comments to posts myself - always from my mom too. Ha. I love so many things about blogging, but I'd have to say that the connections{friends} I have made along the way, and the comments they leave me are what keep me blogging today! xo
I love that layout Cheri... it's a great "all about me" in a single page. One more thing of yours I'll be scraplifting... I answered your poll, but I think I really started blogging as a way to keep an electronic journal... and was captured when my "journal" talked back (comments). I love comments as much as you do! Yay for BBFS!
What a great layout. The colors are striking.
Love that All About Me page Cheri! xx
Cute page! Makes me think about bringing out a similar page I made in 2008 and seeing what still fits.
I love your page :) I think it is really nice that so many blog friends were made through the first class and that these continue to today. I love reading other blogs for general info about that person and also to see what they create and that is the type of blog I write myself. Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment - I love them too!
Interesting poll, and great post and layout - thanks for re-sharing it! Here's a bit of comment love from me xx
I blog for similar reasons
Great post - I enjoyed reading your reflections about starting your blog.
Hi Cheri! I love this layout - it's so fun! And I'm looking forward to browsing the blog hop - you have lots of goodies in here. :)
what a fun list on your scrapbook page. I hate camping and love dk chocolate, too! Motel 6 is roughing it to me.
My blog has become a mishmash over the years. Everything from writing about my two kiddies, to scrapbooking, organizing and everyday life. That's so cool that you've kept in touch with so many old cyber-friends. I love comments too!! Thank you for saying hello over at my blog. :)
I started to blog just when I felt I had something I needed to say. The only comments I got were spammers, and I guess I never had that much to get off my mind, as it just sort of petered out. Besides, your blog is so good and as I've followed it, I've realized mine would never be that interesting to anyone else. And I just learned something about you that I didn't know...that you can't swim. Somehow I always thought you could. I never learned how either, and to this day I can't swim. Also love dark chocolate and unfortunately indulge in it way too much. Keep them coming, I check almost every day to see what you (and Sarah) are up to.
Hi Cheri! This is a great post - I love it! Thanks for visiting my blog...we are very sad about the trees too!
Great little poll, love that you could choose more than one answer and see the results!
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting.
What a great idea for a layout.

Thanks for commenting on my post Cheri..and love that post you did for BFS, first time round!

Thanks for visiting my "home" Cheri! I see you already have a bunch of comments here, which you LOVE like I do... lol! Who doesn't love feedback and someone to "talk" to!? Lovely page, too!
Hi Cheri~enjoyed your blog and voted and new follower~
Cheri - great way to turn the poll around and get your readers involved! I discovered your blog through this latest BFS class and I'm really enjoying it! :)
Great poll, I voted but my 'other ' was far too wordy for the space! lol
Blogging takes my mind completely away from work!!
I love your LO.
I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on why you started blogging and how it's changed since then. What a great looking layout. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment - I love them too.
I think this is a great poll as it really gets to the reasons we blog and yes, I am one of those that love comments too and for the first year and a bit I had maybe one or two people that would comment and when I took Shimelle's True Stories things changed forever. I think the connections we make are important... I enjoy getting to know the people who understand why I do the things I do. Thanks for all your comments!!
Love the layout. The colors are great. Your poll is wonderful because just like you I told myself that it was for me but over time I realized I like the validation too. Thanks for your comments.
Thanks for sharing how the commenting has changed on your blog. I'm a newbie (blog went live in October) and still get few comments. Glad to know that it should improve over time.
I think this is such an important question to stop and ask ourselves every once in a while. Honestly, it's one I've been having trouble answering lately. I love that on your blog I can both see your creative endeavors and learn more about you. You've struck a really great balance.
