A Year of Kindness - Challenge Week 27

I cannot tell you how happy it made my heart to have so many of you post that you already utilize reusable bags for shopping and that your communities support the effort! I suppose this is one of my personal missions in life - to cut down on the amount of plastic waste we dump in our oceans and landfills. And to know that all of my blog friends are doing their part just makes me so proud!

I've always known I had a wonderful group of ladies who frequent my blog - and every week you've been proving me right and raising yourselves even higher in my estimation. Thanks for being the fabulous women you all are! (Men too... if there are any out there that actually read this.)

Usually when I decide on a challenge for any given week, it is because I read something that inspired me - or it is simply some reminder that I need for myself for the week.  This week it is the latter.  This week's challenge is to PRACTICE PATIENCE. 

I'm not even going to interpret, explain, or offer examples this week. Because I believe that we will each have very different areas in our lives where a little patience would go a long way - and it is up to each of us to discover when and where we need to pause and take a breath.

Years ago I read a wonderful little book called "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." The author list 100 things you can do to "keep the little things from taking over your life." I pulled it off the shelf when I read your post, and found #14: Create "Patience Practice Periods." One of my faves and one I've been using ever since I read it, is to say to yourself when you're stuck in traffic, "This is a good time to practice patience." I try to remember it when stuck in a long line, or when someone cuts me off on the expressway. Can't say I'm successful 100% of the time, but a lot more often than I was before I started working on it. The book's worth looking up at the library if you haven't read it.

I have to say that it's one thing I have become very good at, in my current life situation :). But there is always room for improvement, no? Hoping it's a fulfilling week for you ...

I'll have you know that we carried home a week's worth of recyclables from 12 people. We literally had one of our SUV's (we took two with us) completely full!
Now that called for a lot of patience. I'm going to consider this week's challenge DONE!!

I practice patience a lot when waiting for the kids to be ready to go somewhere . . . instead of bugging them, I just go sit in the car.

Like Karen I enjoyed the book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" - I'm re-learning patience about healing at the moment. Perhaps there's a reason I keep having to relearn it? Hmm...

I like the challenge of this one. Patience, they tell me here, is not one of my better things...
