Some mornings were very cloudy and overcast. Others sunny and bright. On this particular morning I had a bit of both and some sprinkles thrown in just for fun...
Looking towards the north end of the beach, I watched the sun rising and finally breaking through the clouds.
It is amazing how much the color changes based on the presence or absence of the sun!
Being at the shore always reminds me how vast and wondrous our planet really is. The Internet can sometimes make the world seem smaller with friends across vast oceans available to us with a few keystrokes. But here... you can't count the grains of sand in a small bucket much less the entire beach... you can't count the drops of water in a bottle and here is an entire ocean... and somewhere way beyond where I can see, out past the horizon line, way farther away than I could ever swim... are friends I've made but haven't met in person yet. And that same sun that is now shining down on me, graced them several hours ago.
When I looked to the sound end of the beach, I watched this incredible rainbow being formed right before my eyes.
It almost looked like it was dripping rainbow down onto the 14th St. Fishing Pier.
And when it finally came out fully, I couldn't get back far enough to capture the entire thing from end to end. As deserted as the beach was at that time of morning, I almost felt like it was a private show that Mother Nature was putting on just for me!
So there I stood, head swiveling back and forth like I was watching a tennis match, trying to figure out which way to look and when to capture the moment. And it was glorious.

This is fantastic, Cheri. Love your photos and your words in this post! xo
Wonderful photos! Someday I will hoist myself out of bed before the sun rises, and maybe get to see what that looks like....but there better be a plane waiting to take me to Maui if I do, since early rising is not my thing.
You did a great job on everything so far, and your scavenger hunt photos are inspired. So far, I haven't gotten a lot of inspiration in Texas. Probably not looking in the right places.
What a beautiful morning! Your words where so touching and the photos are breath taking.
I've never seen a rainbow being formed; what an awesome experience. Both your photographs and writing are so lovely!
An absolutely glorious set of photos.
What a beautiful way to start your morning and in such a lovely setting!
Oh what a glorious sight! I like remembering that the sun I'm enjoying will continue its way around to my friends too :)
Your pictures are fabulous! I almost feel like I was there!
Oh how beautiful is that? Simply stunning Cheri.
