I'm taking Cathy Zielski's
"Clean and Simple" class over at Big Picture Classes. For those of you familiar with her style, it is graphic design based, minimal (if any) embellishment, and generally a white background. She has awesome ideas about where we can go with scrapbooking!
Here is my assignment for Week 1:
Of course, I couldn't leave Cathy's design alone. I had to change the white background to a pretty patterned paper, a script font for "Me" and the initials, and add a butterfly. But then, that's what makes me Me!

What a lovely insight into you. Beautiful page and stunning background.
You have adapted Cathy's design to suit your style very well Cheri. What I love about Cathy's classes, and I'm not taking this one, is that she is very good at teaching the basics so that we can then use them according to our own style - her lessons from the very first DYL still stick in my mind when I make a layout.
I signed up for that class yesterday - so fun to know you are doing it too. Planning on reading the class bits tonight and starting.
Beautiful! I loved what you did with her design. I'm still working on my journaling...
I'd be doing a bit of embellishing too :) I think Cathy's classes are wonderful, so I'll be looking out for more posts showing us what you have been discovering. She has such a great teaching style
Cathy's Design Your Life class was probably the best scrapbooking class I ever took. I love her designs, and I love the way you made it yours!
Great. Layout Cheri...love the journaling!

Lovely to see how you interpret Cathy's ideas - and still keep your page within the clean and simple family! Very fresh and springlike :).
Love your version of clean and simple!

I love that clean and simple can be colorful as well. Very pretty page - loved reading your synopsis of yourself.
What a beautiful page! Your journaling is lovely too. I'm looking forward to seeing your future creations in class.
This turned out great Cheri & your journaling is a great description of you!
Hi Cheri, I am taking Cathy's class and just posted my week 1 and week 2. Both were so out of my comfort zone but love them. I did not even think of changing up her templates. Love what you did. I have been following your blog since we were in a class at Renee Pearson site.
