Clean & Simple #4

This week's assignment involved converting a photo to black and white and converting digi elements to color for use in a hybrid layout.  I went strictly digi again but did get to use all the techniques.

I don't use black and white photos much, but that simple change allows so much more freedom in your color choices and really allows the photo to shine without the competing busyness of the colors. Once I had this photo converted to black and white, I chose soft calm colors to complement it.  Can you imagine how different this layout would look had I gone with the purple and navy colors in Sarah's sweater?

Something about the black and white really makes us focus on their faces. It works very well.

It does indeed look super in black and white, and does as you say allow a big range of accompanying colour. I really like these very subtle tones here. You are really making the CZ class work for you!

It's a perfect black and white photo....and love the muted colours you've used.
I sometimes convert a photo to b + w when there are too many clashing colours in it.

I convert to b&w when the colours just don't work too...lovely layout Cheri!

Oh I am loving your beautiful layouts, Cheri. This inspires me to go black and white on photos more often. I love that converting it to B&W allowed for the nice soft colors of your page.

I really think this is stunning - the colours you chose the accompany the beautiful photo really compliment the page so well.

The photo works great in black and white, and the subtle greens in the color palette work perfectly.

Watched the video last night - am looking forward to getting some crafting time over the weekend. I like how you are doing this completely digi, I can see me doing it both digi and then again hybrid.

I don't often use black and white photos to scrap either, but this is wonderful. I'm bookmarking this layout to CASE later.

Wow, this turned out great & the black & white photo really puts the focus on the two of them rather than the colors.
