Picture Winter - 6

"Cracked Open"

Here is my literal interpration of the prompt - the window
blinds cracked open to let in the light.

Here is my more metaphorical interpretation of the prompt from yesterday. My heart is cracked open. Sarah is really gone. I'm left with her empty room that I get to clean tomorrow.

She left with her Dad to head to the airport a little over an hour ago.  Her flight leaves at 6:55 p.m. our time (just about four hours from now) and arrives at London's Heathrow airport at 6:50 a.m. London time (1:50 a.m. our time - I won't be awake - or at least I hope I won't!).

I hope she has a safe and uneventful flight. I hope that she enjoys her time in London. I hope I don't miss her too much. It just doesn't feel real yet.

Awhhhh! You'll be Ok Mom. Your baby has flown the nest, off to do big girl things, and she won't be the same young woman when she comes back. But you & Dad did a great job with her, she'll be fine, and she'll make you proud. One day when you don't miss her so much, you'll turn her room into a gym or something! Then she'll move back home! It's the modern "circle of life".

Oh, my thoughts are with you, Cheri! My own daughter spent nine months of last year across the sea in Washington and I am ashamed to say I tracked her flight across the Atlantic till she landed. You have lots of friends over here and I am sure any of us will look out for her if you need us to. :)

Urghh - yes, it must be very hard. She will love the experience and thrive - mama needs to trust she will be ok :-)

I hope she makes a big effort to keep in touch with a mum who loves her enough to let her go. It's a nice thought that she can keep up with you through your blog.

Sending supportive thoughts your way. She'll have an amazing time, and I hope you don't miss her too much, and can thoroughly enjoy hearing all about it when she's back xx
