Hello November

Currently...

Wearing sweatpants and sweaters. I've made the switch in my closet. All the winter weight clothes and pjs are out now!

Wishing for more time in the day. It seems I never get as much accomplished as I think I will and I've always got projects backed up that weigh on my mind.

Enjoying a quiet day at home by myself. Lots of cleaning has been accomplished and it is finally play time!

Wondering what the outcome of next week's election will be. Worried either way about the direction of my country.

Eagerly Anticipating the end of nasty political ads and the telephone ringing all day long with political messages.

Watching two new-to-me post-apocalyptic series on television. "Revolution" and "Walking Dead".  Very different premises on how we got to end-of-world scenarios, but interesting to see life in survival mode played out.

Laughing at Kira trying to catch a fly that has gotten into the house. She'll be chasing it for awhile.

Considering trying a 30 day wheat-free lifestyle to see if it makes a difference. Having recently read "It Starts With Food" and "Wheat Belly" the notion that wheat-based foods (breads, pasta, cakes, cookies, pastries, and most processed foods) could be the key to my weight issues is intriguing.  What is your favorite wheat free meal?

Agreeing with you on the political issues. Sweat pants and sweatshirts are my go to's, also.

Yes, we're wearing our warm winter clothes right now!

I love risotto - rice (arborio or other risotto rice), tinned tomatoes, and any meat and veg you fancy! Brown raw meat in a little oil first (or add cooked meat later and just make sure it's heated through). Add veg, cut into small pieces. Add tomatoes and rice and stir well. Keep it simmering, stir often, top up with a bit of boiling water whenever necessary. It's done once the rice is cooked. You can add a stock cube too if it's wheat free - it gives lots more flavour. Our fave combos are bacon and leek with a bit of fresh thyme, or chicken and mushroom, or prawn and courgette. Great for using up whatever veg is in the fridge!

I love having leftovers as a filling for a burrito or quesadilla, too, but that's not so wheat-free.....

I missed your political post a little while ago due to unforseen circumstances - I'm going to go back there and have a good look after this.

Wheat free can be very tricky and I am researching this too. The easiest way is salad and protein, but since you are coming into winter you will want warmer foods. Soups are good and so are casseroles/stews cooked in the slow cooker - we have risotto here too.

I agree with Amy on the food ideas....we eat a lot of soups, meat, fish and hot veg in the winter.

Hoping you get time for all those projects! I've been experimenting with wheat-free (mostly grain-free, to be truthful) for three months now (have you seen the info on Mark's Daily Apple website?). I love chunks of vegetables mixed with dried apricots tossed in olive oil and slow roasted in the oven with a little chilli and cinnamon. Top with natural unsweetened yogourt or some toasted halloumi cheese. :)

So lovely. I feel as if I'm right there. I would like some time to myself too. :)

I've been giving thought to an elimination diet to see if I can figure out what foods might be triggering my allergies. Wheat would be high on the list of possibilities. I'm with you on the political ads---can't wait to see the end of them!

Wow, I'm still wear capris & short sleeves here, although we did a few cool days where I needed either a jacket or long sleeves.

We don't get a lot of political ads here, so there's not much difference other than a huge sigh for four more years! :>)

I said Hello this week to a trip to see my three nieces & just returned home last night, so I'm catching up on blog reading today.
