One Little Word Blog Hop - October Edition

Whether you arrived here from Lee's Blog  as part of the One Little Word Blog Hop, or you are here because you love me and drop by regularly... Welcome! I love visitors! The One Little Word Blog Hop is a monthly hop run by Lee for members of Ali Edwards' One Little Word class over at Big Picture Classes. The hop goes live on Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.  You can always check back later if someone's post isn't live yet.

The assignment for September required us to interview someone with respect to how they see our word playing out in our lives and record the results.  I took advantage of my trip to Dallas to interview Sandy (my mother) and Melissa when she joined us for a day of scrapping and chatting.  I was so happy to hear the words of encouragement from these two very wise women!

It only took a little orange marker, washi tape, and some painted thickers to really finish off these pages!
Seems they both already think I'm doing a pretty good job of living my word "DARE" - I just need to keep on walking down the path I've started.

My tracker for this month - as far as I had it done for taking pictures to put together this blog post. Can't wait until the last minute this month as I'll be on a plane headed for Boise Idaho when you are reading this post!

But what I really want to tell you about is the BIG DARE I accomplished in September...  Due to some unfortunate circumstances in my childhood, I grew up with an irrational fear of guns and swore I would never touch one, never own one, never have one in my home.  As I have matured, I've learned enough to know that it isn't the gun that is the problem, but the person who is holding it.  So while in Texas I confronted this fear head-on.  Mike (my step-father) took me to a shooting range and showed me how to shoot.

22 caliber Beretta.  And those targets are from the actual target sheet I was aiming at.
Turns out that guns aren't that scary after all.  And I'm a much better shot than I ever thought I'd be!

If you are continuing on in the hop, your next stop is  Margareta's Blog.

And just in case you get lost, here's the entire list:

I love the idea of interviewing others with regard to your word, and it was fun to read Melissa's and your mom's words. Really cool!

I was surprised before when I saw you shooting a gun, and now I know the "why" behind it. I never shot a gun until I met Doug, and have done it many times over the past 10 years. I love it! However, we always shoot at targets in the desert. We went to a range in town a few years ago and I HATED it - felt to confined and the place was crowded so I got a little freaked out. No shooting for me lately because of my shoulder, but it is something that I really enjoy.

Well done on keeping up with your word. See you soon!!! :o)!!!

I, too, remember this photo from your Texas post, and had no idea of its significance. I've never held a gun, and rarely have I ever seen one. Good for you! I wonder what kind of shot I'd be?

That is an interesting challenge and I enjoyed reading all the answers. Congratulations on overcoming your fear. I think it is very good to face one's fears and dare something, challenge oneself.

Love the orange color in your October pages. And the older I get, the more interested I become in trying out target shooting.

It is lovely to see how your word has really helped you to step out into being your self this year, and great affirmations from your wise women! I was taken aback by the shooting range photos; I guess over here, hardly anyone has a gun. I don't know anyone who shoots, and I have no interest in ever seeing one, or holding one. But all kudos to you in conquering a fear!
