First Friday Fitness - May Edition

April was not a good month for me.  I totally lost my fitness mojo.
I was unmotivated.
I was tired of logging.
I was tired of counting calories.
I was tired of feeling deprived.

So I ate more calories, just trying to make healthy choices as I did, not always succeeding.

Right now I'm struggling with finding that magical balance between eating healthy and enjoying life.  Between what number on the scale will satisfy me and how much more time I need to spend obsessing over every bite  and logging every calorie.  At what point is it enough?

I quit going to the gym and went back to real basics where exercise is concerned - strength training at home with exercises using body weight (planks, bridges, push-ups) and free weights.  When I started I could barely do a single "girl" push-up (on your knees).  I can now do 8 or 9 in a row, with about 5 of those being in good form.  Ultimately, I want to be able to do real push-ups - from the toes - and be able to do 15 or 20 in form.

Here's the outcome of a month totally lacking in mojo:

My weight is exactly where it was a month ago. But I have to be honest and tell you that in the past month I've only seen the down side of 170 on three or four occasions, most of them fairly recently.

Yesterday I actually saw 169.  But today no amount of leg shaving, nail clipping, or foot buffing was going to budge the scale.  Oh well, the ritual is a good excuse for a little personal pampering, right?

I realize this means my goal of 165 by my birthday is simple not going to happen.  Short of a miracle or radical surgery, neither of which I'm counting on.  But I'm okay with it.  And still learning to love me.

"Totally Random"
I thought this was pretty random...

On that walk, remember the one???, I saw this.

Couldn't help but wonder how a cheetah print umbrella came to be in the trash can on the bike path... and who would carry such an umbrella to begin with???

And yes, I am hopelessly behind in Picture Inspiration.  This was the prompt from April 14th.  But I do intend to catch up soon!

i.Scrap - the Final Installment

journaling reads:
i.will live in the present moment. I will do more with less, trust in the Universe to provide, and embrace imperfection.

This photo represents me living in the moment. I was on a photo walk in Greenville SC with Krystal. It was just me and my camera, seeing the world around me in new and different ways.  All the "stuff" that normally weighs me down - laundry, work, bills - was all forgotten as I moved from place to place snapping away.
Breathe. Let Go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.        Oprah Winfrey
Living in the moment means being available for my family, seeing the abundance in my life, and expressing gratitude.

i.Scrap - the Abundance Installment

{i love my little cluster of embellies on this one}
journaling reads:
i.love my family, my friends, flowers, trees, technology, hot water, air-conditioning, airplane travel, chocolate chip cookies, clean drinking water, a cozy fireplace, good books, sunshine, scrapbooking, online classes, flip-flops, fireworks, and freshly folded laundry.

I am so blessed to have so much abundance in my life - it surrounds me everywhere I turn!

The warm Spring breeze, the leaves on the trees,
a comfortable bed, a fluffy pillow for my head,
health, smiles, the ability to walk for miles,
choosing joy, being green
finding abundance is easy - see what I mean???

Coming Soon

to a mailbox near you...

A while ago I received this lovely little giftie from Melissa as part of Pay It Forward.  It is the cutest little (3" x 4.5") purse size notebook.

I decided that rather than do a lottery on my blog, I would just choose some people to receive a Pay It Forward from me.

Here's a sneak peek at what I made:

Sorry, that is all I'm giving away for the moment. I want my recipients to be surprised!

But here's the catch.  You see I'm also participating in Mail Art Exchange with Ginger.

So those little gifties went postal last Friday in these:

And I purposefully took the photo BEFORE I addressed the envelopes, so  I would not be giving away any secrets!

Now here's the final kicker.  When I started this, I only made ten envelopes. :(

I had the darnedest time choosing just ten people to send out to.  Some regular readers, some newer ones. Five here in the states, five abroad.  But there were so many others I wanted to send a pretty envelope to... that I've already decided to do a round two!  Cause I just can't stand leaving any of my bloggy friends out.

Project 64 {17/64}

Red - Violet

I finally got my box of crayons and decided to join in Project 64.

I haven't decided if I'll try to play catch-up on the colors I missed or just play along from here on out. What I have decided is that I'm going to use the color that the crayon scribbles as my standard for finding a match.

And this week, the only thing I found that was a match was this sweater that the hubs bought me for Christmas.  Not a color I would ever have chosen myself, but it works.

Of course, taking a photo of the sweater by itself - either on the hanger or folder - just seemed... well... boring.  So here's a self- portrait of me in my red-violet sweater!

One Little Word Blog Hop - May Edition

Hello and Welcome to the One Little Word Blog Hop! If you came here from Amanda's blog, welcome! If you are a regular reader, you already know the drill! ;)  The entire hop goes live at 8:00 a.m. Pacific (11:00 my time) so if you are early, just check back later to catch everyone!

Ali's April prompt for the One Little Word class had us writing a letter to ourselves. Mine is very private and I'm opting not to share that little bit of my book here.

But I do want to share this layout.  The layout design is based on Shimelle's 4x6 Photo Love lesson for March. It's a free class over at Two Peas which you can find here.   Papers and elements are all from Studio Miki over at Scrapbookgraphics.

My one little word for 2011 is "happy". I am focusing this year on what it means to be happy, what makes me happy, how mindful I can be about choosing happiness.  This layout documents a day when I deliberately chose happiness.  I blogged about it here and plan to print out the blog post and attach it to the back of this layout.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Rebekah's blog.  And just in case you get lost, here is the entire blog list.
